Mur River
Mura (German: Mur) is the name of the river which flows through the
city of Graz. Graz is also the biggest city which is crossed by the
river.
The National Park “Hohe Tauern” in central Austria is
the source of the river. Its total length is 465 km, of which 295 km is
in Austria, 98 km is in Slovenia and the rest constitutes the border
between Hungary and Croatia.

There have been reports since the 4th century BC, about mills
powered by the streams of the river. When Slavs and Magyars arrived in
the area the ancient technology was adopted by them . Several decades
ago, in the 1920s and ’30s, many of these mills were still operating
along the river.
The end of the river is near Legrad in the Varazdin county of Croatia, where the Mura flows into the Drava river.
